A Story worth a reading!!!

Tuesday, August 9th, 2011

An old man lived alone in Punjab, India . He wanted to sow potato garden,
but it was very hard work. His only son, who would have helped him, was in
prison. The old man wrote a letter to his son and mentioned his situation:

Dear Son,

I am feeling pretty bad because it looks like I won’t be able to plant my
potato garden this year. I hate to miss doing the garden because your mother
always loved planting time. I’m just getting too old to be digging
up a garden plot. If you were here, all my troubles would be over.
I know you would dig the plot for me, if you weren’t in prison.

Love,
Dad

Shortly, the old man received this telegram: “For Heaven’s sake, Dad, don’t
dig up the garden!! That’s where I buried the WEAPONS!!”

At 4 a.m. the next morning, a dozen secret Police agents and local police
officers showed up and dug up the entire garden without finding any WEAPONS.

Confused, the old man wrote another note to his son telling him what
happened, and asked him what to do next.
His son’s reply was: “Go ahead and plant your potatoes, Dad. It’s the best I
could do for you from here.”

MORAL: NO MATTER WHERE YOU ARE IN THE WORLD, IF YOU HAVE DECIDED TO DO
SOMETHING DEEP FROM YOUR HEART YOU CAN DO IT. IT IS THE
THOUGHT THAT MATTERS NOT WHERE YOU ARE OR WHERE THE PERSON IS.

The art of Maturity – Business Rules 4!!!!!

Friday, May 28th, 2010

How many of you know and remember Gold spot,Binny,Dynora,Solidaire, kwality ?????

if you see all the above brands are fully qualified in adapting the earlier three rules of business.but they are almost no more now.

Why it happened???

because they dont understand or misunderstand the art of maturity!!!!

In Products or services maturity means updation of the product/services upto date along with the market. When the market matures the company has to also change the product according to the market.

Gold spot was the undisputed leader in aerated drinks in 80′s.Binny was the market leader in garments.Solidaire and Dyanora are the two ajor television brands in india.kwality Ice creams No one easily forget eventhough we have ignored it as a brand.all these brands failed to understand the market direction and they want to stick on to their same old success formula which was adapted in their early 80′s.

if you see videocon,a fairly successful leader in the television segment, they have updated them selves to a home appliances company according to the market. But Dyanora and solidaire failed.Same is applicable to pepsi.

The failure for goldspot is because they want to stick to that one and only flavor and they dont want to venture into anyother thing.this digged the grave for the brand.

any product or service has to update/mature according to the market. If the company fail to understand this market ignores them.many a service providers and product owners fails here because of the initial success they enjoy in establishing their brand.they would have followed their earlier three rules. But it is very essential for any business owners to understand the market maturity and react to it.

We will discuss more on how to overcome this in the Art of line extension and the Art of Cross Selling!!!!

post your comments!!

Cheers!!!

The Art of Differentiation-Business Rules 1

Differentiation Matters!!!!

I’m travelling to mumbai from hyderabad today.after checking in as it was morning thot of having breakfast.Hyd airport has best varieties of Restaurants.

It has coffee beans, idly factory, indian paradise, pizza hut, chowpatti and some more.I was surprised to know today that all the outlets has been managed by one company.

I found all counters full.people were infact standing on queue.I realised the differentiation rule worked here.the company choosed to have different outlets to cater different taste buds rather than having one big counter which serves ALL.

The same is being adopted by almost all malls.seperate counters for diff brands.

If you recollect your earlier experiences you would have seen all brands in one big counter instead of different counters.

How exactly this helps a company???

This helps the company in reducing the consumers time by categorizing and by reducing options.

Its always advisible to have diff solutions to cater diff audience even if your solution has a capability of catering ALL!!!

Its very essential for you not only to differentiate your products but also to differentiate your offerings based on the tergeted market segment
