I’m what I’m and you are what you are!!!!!!!

Have you compared yourself with someone on at least something?????????

I’m sure your answer is YES.Same is me.

We all compare ourselves with others at least on something which we feel we are not having that for the moment.

But is that a healthy practice?????.

Some of us say yes and some may say no.

But what is actually right????is it yes or no???

This is not a healthy practice if you start comparing yourself with someone for the same thing often.you should compare only till you identify what you are missing.if you start yourself every now and then for that thing then you will not be able to concentrate on what you need to do in getting that thing.

We get confused often on this because we are programmed to believe that that’s the only way of measuring our growth.not really true.it is something like you putting your minimal efforts for something to grow and you start measuring it’s growth often thinking that by just you constantly checking,it will grow of it’s own.

For a leader two things are essential.first to understand that you are what you are and others are what they are.every one has some specialities inbuilt by virtue.it’s the job of the leader to identify those special skills and nurture that.

Many managers use this yard stick to measure their team’s output.this is not correct.it’s not a manager or leader’s job to pre program their team on a particular type.

Secondly,cultivate this to your team members also!!!

Because by virtue they follow your foot steps.If you start comparing everything they will also do the same.make them understand that everyone is unique and bring their uniqueness out and get it applied in the daily usage to produce effective results!!!!!!

A Story worth a reading!!!

An old man lived alone in Punjab, India . He wanted to sow potato garden,
but it was very hard work. His only son, who would have helped him, was in
prison. The old man wrote a letter to his son and mentioned his situation:

Dear Son,

I am feeling pretty bad because it looks like I won’t be able to plant my
potato garden this year. I hate to miss doing the garden because your mother
always loved planting time. I’m just getting too old to be digging
up a garden plot. If you were here, all my troubles would be over.
I know you would dig the plot for me, if you weren’t in prison.

Love,
Dad

Shortly, the old man received this telegram: “For Heaven’s sake, Dad, don’t
dig up the garden!! That’s where I buried the WEAPONS!!”

At 4 a.m. the next morning, a dozen secret Police agents and local police
officers showed up and dug up the entire garden without finding any WEAPONS.

Confused, the old man wrote another note to his son telling him what
happened, and asked him what to do next.
His son’s reply was: “Go ahead and plant your potatoes, Dad. It’s the best I
could do for you from here.”

MORAL: NO MATTER WHERE YOU ARE IN THE WORLD, IF YOU HAVE DECIDED TO DO
SOMETHING DEEP FROM YOUR HEART YOU CAN DO IT. IT IS THE
THOUGHT THAT MATTERS NOT WHERE YOU ARE OR WHERE THE PERSON IS.

What’s essential for winning????

Knowledge,money,opportunities,planning,execution,

smartness,shrewdness,education, we can say so many things.

Just think for a moment!!!!

We ourselves would have seen lot of people around us who have majority of the above qualities but yet to make a mark on their respective fields.

Why it happens???

Many of these failures are because of one thing.those people are not a team players.

Keep it in your mind!!!!!

A great achievement or success cannot be made possible by a single person.

Any great achievement is by default made possible only because of the team effort.

When it comes to team,it’s not only about you getting from them what you need to reach your targets,but it’s also about you giving them what they need in order to perform and produce results.

It’s about sharing your vision,knowledge and experience to them and you getting the same from them back.

It’s not about you ordering them to complete the task,but it’s all about you encouraging them to accomplish something for which they get rightfully recognised.

Even though we understand and cultivate this on our initial days of the career,the more we grow we forget this fact and we will start thinking as if all is happening because of us.

Leaders/winners will never allow that thought to get nurtured as they clearly know that it will not only spoil the growth of the community/organisation but equally it will spoil ones personality too.

The moment you establish yourself as a team player you will get the energy of all your team members in you completing/achieving your tasks/targets.

The success of the team leader is purely depends on making their team member realise one thing that they are not working for someone but they are working for themselves!!!!!!

Many think team building and team management is a process.they are wrong.it’s a culture.

Process is something which helps someone to get accustomed to a culture.

Culture by virtue has a process embedded and apart from the process it gives people a satisfaction which makes them feel like they are also a part of the success.

If you want your team to believe you,first you need to believe them.

More that you expect them to understand your preference and change,you should first understand their preferences,interests,issues,family,goals,plans and you making them understand that you are going to be there with them in seeing that they are achieving the maximum.

Don’t expect them to learn something of their own and perform.it will definitely happen one day.but if you want that to happen one day,you first need to teach them what they need in order to perform.

Don’t penalise them when something goes wrong.give an opportunity to them to correct it and you stand by them on their mistakes.

Don’t order them.instead ask them on what should be done.

Don’t feel that your team is incompetent.also don’t make them feel their team leader is incompetent.

there is no need for you to arrange a party on their anniversary or birthday.but make sure that you greet them personally and make them understand that they are important to you.

Don’t expect them to give credit to you for all their success.instead give them some credits on your success even though they are not a part of it at times.

Remember your team is your strongest weapon in you achieving your goals!!!!!!

The most important thing is as the user of that weapon you need to know how to use it!!!!!!

Believe yourself-The most essential thing one should have if he wants to win!!!

Today,I had a chance of speaking to couple of guys,whom I was interviewing.while I was trying to zero down on the most suitable candidate,I got confused as all 4 shortlisted guys are almost equal in all qualities!!!!

While I was thinking on how to conclude on this,I again thought of speaking to each one of them to identify is there any thing special apart from what I have identified which helps me in concluding things.

And I got that special thing!!!!!!!!!!

It’s all about believing yourselves!!!!!!

I was total impressed with this person who told me that,even though he is not good in certain key areas what we are looking for, he told me with in a period of a month he will be able to coup up with that and he is confident in performing.

When I asked how he is confident on that time frame,he just told me “I know what my strengths are sir!!!!!!

Will definitely ask him to read this blog once he settles!!!!!

Now let’s comeback to believing ourselves!!!!

Many of my associates,team members who has almost all other qualities fail to become a leader because of their lack of belief on themselves.

All achievers/successful personalities/winners has this thing in common.they all believe on themselves.many a times we think that we are realistic in planning and we foresee the risk associated with the process in achieving the goals/targets planned.

The losers thought process itself is to immediately think on what are the very strong reasons for us to believe on why it is not possible for us to reach our goals/achieve our targets.

I myself has seen this with many people.as soon as you speak to them on the goals,they will immediately start replying you with statistics and reasons on why it is not possible for them to reach.the problem is they will present it so realistic that if you start listening to it you will start feeling that those things are proper and you will also start believing that what they are saying is right.

On the alternate,the winners will immediately speak on how to achieve this and where and all we need to equip ourselves in order to get that things achieved.the winners will work with statistics,historical datas in identifying the potential advantages and threats and will start discussing about the measures to be taken in order to reach the destination safely.

Stop here.please read the above two sentences again.

Is it possible for you to identify any similarities between both the sentences???????

In both apart from the thought process all are almost same!!!!

The goal/datas/metrics available to both the person is same.

The person who believe on himself will view this as an opportunity to prove himself.

The person who don’t believe will view this as a threat and will try to safeguard himself!!!!

A person who don’t believe on himself can never be a Winner or Leader!!!!

While I was posting this in my blog the following phrase came to my mind!!!!

I don’t know where I read this!!.but definitely worth in sharing to all!!!

The winner way of thinking:
If someone can do that,I can also do!!!!!
If no one can do that,I only can do that

The loser way of thinking:
If someone can do that,why I need to do???
If no one can do that,how can I do that????

There’s only a hair line difference between both these guys!!!!

The Winner is clearly the one who believe on himself!!!!!!!!

Many Mid level managers think like elephants!!!!

The traning for elephants starts when the elephant is very small.When you see the baby elephants on training,the trainers tie the elephant to a rock with a solid iron chainsElephant thinking which will prevent the elephant from moving.over years their mind is used towards only one thing that when something is tied in their legs they cant move.

But if you see once their training is over to make the elephant not to move the trainers simply tie a rope which the elephant can cut it in no time.But because of the mindset which got cultivated over years the elephants stay in the same place.

The same is applicable to all mid level managers.just because they are used to some practices in their early days they consider the practice for their lifetime which doesnt allow them to move forward at all.

They all forget the fact that those practices are set to make them understand the system when they were young.I have seen elephant thinking in all mid level managers.This has become a major barrier for them to elevate them selves.the only way to identify this and be out of it is to analyse the practice time to time whether they need to follow the same time and again or to change according to the situation.

We all tend to change the way we think constantly according to the situation and to the place.people who feels they cant change will stay in the same place and people who adopt the change will move ahead of all!!!!
